SPARTAN STRONG
Planning for the future of Nashwauk-Keewatin Schools.
The NK School Board has initiated a planning process to address the school’s buildings needs.
Nashwauk-Keewatin Schools gives students the foundation they need to achieve their goals. NK Spartans have benefited from the strong bond between our district and our surrounding communities for decades. Now, it’s time to tackle a big issue facing NK Schools.
The district is exploring new ways to address the significant challenges posed by our century-old school buildings.
NK has the oldest school buildings on the Iron Range and some of the oldest in the entire State of Minnesota.
While neighboring school districts have made substantial investments in their schools in recent years - improvements that have advanced student learning - our community hasn’t made a significant investment in our schools in several decades.
The school district is in the process of developing a plan to modernize our school that NK residents will vote on. We will update this website once we know more details about the building plan and future referendum.

Part of the planning process includes gathering community input about school facilities and the possible new construction that could replace its century-old buildings. School district leaders are in the process of seeking resident input about the school facilities.
